Leadership

A Clear Path From First Rep to Game Rep

Each lesson is designed to give families more clarity, not just more swings, throws, or drills.

01
Assess

Start With the Player

Coaches look at age, current skill level, goals, confidence, and the situations that show up most often in games.

02
Build

Clean Up the Skill

Training breaks the skill into clear, repeatable pieces so the athlete knows what to feel and what to fix.

03
Apply

Move Toward Game Speed

Players work through reps that connect mechanics, decisions, timing, and pressure instead of staying stuck in drills.

04
Plan

Choose the Next Rep

Families leave with a better sense of whether the next step is another lesson, academy training, or team development.

Is catching training different from general defensive lessons?

Yes. Catching is a position with its own mechanics and its own game responsibilities, so BBT trains it as position-specific work rather than folding it into general infield or outfield instruction.

What does catching training actually cover?

Receiving, blocking, recovery, footwork, and transfers, plus the communication and control that a catcher is responsible for during a game.

My catcher is slow on throws to second. Is transfer work covered?

Yes. Cleaner footwork and quicker, more confident transfers are a core part of the lesson, since most throwing-time problems come from the exchange rather than arm strength.

Do catching lessons cover the leadership side of the position?

Yes. Communication, control behind the plate, and leading the game are trained alongside the technical skills, because a catcher who cannot direct a defense is only doing half the job.

What age can a player start catching lessons?

The BBT catching model is built for players ages 8-14U. Call 916-465-5551 if your athlete falls outside that range and you want a recommendation.
